Years after the smash underground release, DarkWater, Wade Waters has re-surfaced with DO SOMETHING. After an eye-opening tour of the Lower 9th Ward, the group was inspired to send a message that New Orleans still needs our support. DO SOMETHING features lyrics that aim at countering the effects of the media’s short attention span on important issues like the reconstruction of the Lower 9th Ward over a classic soulful soundbed provided by French producer GMJ. Money earned from the sale of DO SOMETHING will go to aid reconstruction efforts in New Orleans.
Wade Waters bio: Called “enlightened” and “above the norm” by renowned journalist Tavis Smiley, Wade Waters is a hip hop duo like no other. SoulStice and Haysoos, each accomplished hip hop artists in their own right, respectively hold graduate-level degrees in Electrical Engineering and African American studies. Collectively, the group has released the smash albums, DarkWater and Return of the Kings featuring breakout singles, “Rock Solid,” “Speak on It” and “Movement Music,” through a partnership with EMI. Individually SoulStice and Haysoos have released several successful solo albums including most recently, Dead Letter Perfect, Beyond Borders, and Standing Tall. Features in almost every tastemaker hip hop publication, including XXL and The Source, tours in the U.S., Europe and Japan, and song placements in major motion pictures and national television have put Wade Waters on the international map both as a group and as solo artists. SoulStice originally hails from Chicago, but currently resides in Maryland where both artists now call home. Charged by their close proximity to Washington D.C. coupled with an acute awareness of social and political inequity, Wade Waters hopes to impact not only the hip hop masses, but to affect positive change in America and beyond.
